Thank you Montreal. Parc-nature du Bois-de-Liesse

One of my favourite spots to visit in Montreal is Parc-nature du Bois-de-Liesse. It has excellent cross-country skiing trails and a large network of hiking trails amongst rare hardwood forests of Black Maple. Make the time and go see it.

I enjoyed the process of painting this landscape very much.  I am fairly certain you can find this spot just off of the Boucle des Champs-Pitfield trail in Parc-nature du Bois-de-Liesse. Each tree has its own fingerprint or “character” held within its bark patterns, curves, and branches. Similar to the people I have met and the places I have visited while living in Montreal, I have my favourite trees.

This will be the last painting I complete here in Montreal this year, as I will be moving to Boston. I like to think of this painting as a “Thank you” to this fantastic city which I had the pleasure to live in for the last 5 years and I am pleased to say this piece is now on its way to its new home in Winnipeg, MB where some fine people can enjoy this small slice of what Montreal has to offer.

Thank you Montreal.

Title: Going Outside for a Bike Ride
Artists Statement: It’s empowering to be your own source of transportation. Making quick decisions while moving at high speed is exhilarating and I often find myself smiling while I ride my bike. I ride because it makes me happy and more aware of my surroundings. It’s also a means of an escape from boredom and a path to freedom. Everyone should go outside for a bike ride.

Scott 3 Rox Racing Auction

Team Scott 3 Rox Racing held a fund raising event April 8th in Burlington Ontario and I was pleased to create and donate a painting for the silent auction. It was a great opportunity to meet the Scott 3 Rox riders for 2014 at their team launch and by all accounts the night rolled along smoothly with Jeff Douglas from CBC Radio’s ‘As it Happens’ hosting.

Pippi Longstocking

Based upon the fictional Swedish character Pippi Longstocking, this was a wedding gift to some friends in Winnipeg for their new baby girl. They requested Pippi because she represents what it means to be strong, independent, and fearless.

YES Art Expo 2013 Pt. II

Another interesting couple of days a this year’s YES Art Expo. I had a great time meeting the talented artists and despite the strange weather, it was busy with foot traffic of all sorts. I didn’t have time to meet all of the artists, but for those of you I did make time for, I will keep in touch. I encourage you to check out the full artists list to see the rest of what was on display.
