Fractals

A note or two about fractals. Fractals are

“… typically self-similar patterns, where self-similar means they are “the same from near as from far”

- Wikipedia

Fractals are easily found in trees, coastlines, snowflakes, and leaves. Two years ago I was asked to do a drawing called “Fractal Sun & Tree” for a book cover. I wasn’t about to draw infinity, so instead I connected the sun and the tree in this manner. The author was happy with the result.

I have just finished a second version shown below of that same drawing with minor differences.

Underneath is an example of the Mandelbrot Set fractal.

Once you’ve seen one, you will see them everywhere. Self-similar and repeating patterns are all around you.
